When they rolled out the 4-seat convertible 650 horsepower that can go nearly 200 miles per hour, the brand entered into a unique niche which it only shares with the faster Continental GTCs of Bentley and somehow the XKR-S Convertible from Jaguar.

Looking at the numbers, the ride will be more powerful than the original F1 of McLaren and according to the American carmaker it will be the most potent V8 in production in the auto world today.

The convertible GT500 shares the powerful engine with its sibling the GT500 coupe. The monster engine was mutated to a 5.8L coupled with a supercharger, new heads and block, improved camfshaft, and a carbon fiber driveshaft.

The SVT team of Ford also upgraded the transmission, clutch, and the axle to make sure everything runs up to the high standards.

If you want to have this GT500 convertible in your garage, you need to write a check for $65,000 which is about 41,000 British Pounds. Is it worth it? Let us just say that you cannot find anything likeit if you are looking at the soft-top segment of the market. The GT500 convertible gives you every value of the money you are willing to pay for it, and returns with that vrooom which can certainly make you smile every time you ride it.

The MX-3 model from Mazda was one of the most popular in Canada and the reasons for that are quite understandable. This car had many good features and the advantages of owning one were clear to many Canadians.

One reason that the Mazda MX-3 was so popular in Canada is that it was the first redesigned style of the car for the time period. This new look starting in 1992 gave the car a modern appearance and it was distinctly anything but the box-like form that the previous model had.

One of the main advantages of owning a Mazda MX-3, however, was the fact that it was a sports coupe that could hold up to four passengers. This made it extremely popular among Canadians who wanted something that not only looked good and was sporty, but which was also practical.

The Mazda MX-3 also has different engines to choose from, including a six cylinder one that had a great top speed and acceleration rate. This engine was one of the best of its kind during the years this particular model of Mazda was being produced and it attracted many people to the car.

On top of all that, in 1993 a limited Special Edition Mazda MX-3 was sold only in Canada to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Mazda in the country. This special edition car had a lot of great features, like a V6 engine, leather interior and custom 15” wheels. Only a couple thousand of these cars were sold and that only increased the popularity of this model in Canada.

The Aston Martin DB9 which was first introduced to the market in 2003 is considered by many to be the most beautiful car ever made and there are several sound reasons to back up that claim. Basically, everything about this model is excellent and there are a couple variants of this car to choose from, as well as improvements made to the models manufactured during the production times. This super car is still being made today and unlike other cars from Aston Martin is more readily available since more of the DB9 have been produced.

The beautiful Aston Martin DB9 is categorized as a grand tourer. This sports car is made of only the best materials available for the interior and the exterior. The inside is pure luxury, while the outer appearance is simple and elegant. The chassis is lighter than for other cars in this class due to the construction made of bonded aluminum. The Aston Martin DB9 successfully integrated the classic Aston Martin looks with modern features to create a flowing look to the car.

There are two styles of the Aston Martin DB9. One is a two door coupe and the other is a two door convertible known as the Volante. Although these two versions are different on the outside, what’s inside with regards to the engine is the same. This model has a twelve cylinder engine that has 477 PS and a top speed of 190 mph. This powerful engine only complements the exterior which is strongly made and yet sleek.

According to the automotive grapevine, Japanese car manufacturer Toyota is now thinking about releasing a baby version of FT-86 sports car. The Baby FT-86 is rumored to carry Toyota’s 3SZ-VE engine, which is a 1.5-liter inline-4. The engine can generate 109 bhp of power. This new car is set to rival Honda CR-Z and other models in that range. The announced working price will also be at least $5000 cheaper than the standard FT-86.

There are still very scarce information about the new car, but the launch is slates some time in 2012. However, no official announcements have been made by Toyota yet. Meanwhile, the FT-86 sports car will go on sale on 2011. The price tag isn’t fixed yet, but the company did say that it’s going to be only slightly pricier than $20,000. Earlier, Toyota promised consumers that it will be selling the FT-86 lover that $20,000.

It seems that the Japanese car manufacturer underestimated its production costs, though. The FT-86 concept was first introduced in 2009, and is the much-anticipated successor to AE86. The two-door rear-driven sports car received a warm welcome when it was launched in the Geneva Motor Show recently.

Aside from the series of photos released by the Japanese automaker, there were no pronouncements about the car’s engine make up made. It can be noted, though, that this model catapults Toyota’s attempt at building a heritage outside of its Lexus brand. The company just might draw loyal, brand-conscious customers to its side with the sports car. Aside from the Corolla AE86, the FT-86 also succeeded the Supra and Celica.

The version of Switzer was pumped up to output 911 horsepower or about 291 hp better than what the recently unveiled GT2 RS can give out. The 911 figure is not a coincidence but a good iteration of the Porsche 911.

Everything about the Switzer R911S kicks off from the P800 GT2 kit of the Ohio based tuning firm, and everything else moves forward from there. Engineers say that they were able to tap into the 911 hp potential of the car because of their massive in-house intercoolers and they also mentioned about racing fuel.

The suspension of the vehicle was also reworked using titanium front strut and a suspension reservoir from JRZ. The springs are also hand selected.

A carbon fiber edition of the car will also be released which will trim down some pounds off the car and give it a lower center of gravity.

Switzer has a lower tag price compared to the sticker of the 911 GT2 RS that has 620 horsepower. Their version will sell for $199,900 while the carbon edition can be yours for $239,900.

The GT2 RS of Porsche will sell in the US for $245,000.

Someone’s going to Gotham City with these wheels. When Terry Cook, owner of Deco Rides in New Jersey, expressed his desire to create “something special”, we knew there were going to be snags along the way.

The owner of the company that generates bodies for Gen II Boattail Speedsters wanted something “along the lines” of a Delahaye and a Bugatti. This meant that the project was going to be extremely expensive. Second, Cook didn’t want to cut an original.

What Cook did was to work from one of the composite bodies he already had. Then, he modified the details radically to incorporate the design ideas (already belonging to past cars) in his “vision”. While the core body was created by cook and Chip Foose some eight years ago, a lot of other design details were drawn from classic automobiles.

For example, the enclosed pontoon fenders in the body were notably drawn from a 30s Delahaye. The grille of the vehicle is also a chopped replica of the Type 57 line. Right on top of the radiator, you will also find a replica of the Hispano Suiza stork, while the vents on each rocker panel were steel-stamped and welded in to place.

Under the hood, the Bugnotti Type 57S Roadster carries a GM LSI V8 which is hooked to an automatic 4L60E. Under the boattail, the roadster sits on a Fat Man Fabrications Frame.

The most bizarre detail about the car is probably its profile’s asymmetry. Apparently, it has a pumpkin seed-shaped fender on one side and as stainless trim on the other. When asked why, Cook just said he loved both Bugatti designs, and since only one side of the car is seen at a time, he included both of them. Asymmetrical or not, though, this roadster is every modboy’s dream come true.

Ford has announced its team up with the DUB Magazine and Roush Industries in the production of a 2011 Mustang DUB Edition. This new lineup is designed for the “new generation” of Mustang buyers.

Incidentally, the DUB edition of Ford’s Mustang will sport a Roush front fascia, lowering springs, rear-quarter covers for the windows, graphic stripes and 20-inch TIS wheels. These wheels will also be covered by Pirelli high-performance tires. The interior of the DUB edition isn’t overlooked, either. Ford said that DUB embroidered headrests will be used for the front seats.

The DUB edition Mustang will be powered by a 3.7-liter V6 which can generate up to 305 horsepower. The engine can also produce a maximum of 280 pound-feet of torque. Paired with a six-speed transmission (which is available in either automatic or manual), and a rear axle that has a 3.1 gear ratio, the new generation Mustang is definitely going to be a crowd pleaser.

According to Mustang brand manager Fritz Wilke, the Ford Mustang happens to be the most customized vehicle in the world. When it comes to collaborations with other top auto experts, the Mustang has definitely pushed a lot of boundaries. The brand manager was also confident that the relationship between Roush, DUB and Ford will help propel the 2011 Mustang to new heights as it faces a “whole new audience”.

Officially, the Mustang DUB Edition will be put on sale this autumn. The vehicle will be offered as a glass rood coupe, a coupe, or a convertible.

Volkswagen is determined to be the leader of the pack by 2018 and that can only be done if they lead the automotive world in every possible segment including the pack of EVs and hybrids. Recently Volkswagen disclosed plans of making electric powertrains, and it is planning to expand its range of electric vehicles in the next few years.

The hybrid technology of Volkswagen is featured at the Geneva Motor Show through the Touareg Hybrid. Next year, VW will test run about 500 electric powered Golfs across the globe.

The EV onslaught of Volkswagen will muscle its way in the segment with the hybrid version of the Jetta coming to North America by 2012. Insiders also tipped us about a mini-EV that will be launched by 2013. The small car will derive inspiration from the concept car E-Up unveiled last year. The small electric car will be the first mass production EV of the brand that will be trailed by the Golf and Jetta in EV configuration. The Passat will eventually follow suit.

Volkswagen is eyeing a 3% share of the market for electric vehicles by 2018. They plan to achieve this by injecting the EVs to the high-volume, mainstream market instead of keeping the electric cars in their niche status.

Lexus released the details about its new compact hybrid the 2011 CT 200h that is to be unveiled at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. The small green car will go through the production pipe by the end of the year and will be sold across their global market. This means that the CT 200h will most likely be showcased at your local dealerships.

The Japanese automaker aims to magnet a younger and new segment of customers to revamp their current client base which is considered to be the oldest in the industry. The CT 200h is strategically packed with funky features from the hybrid technology, gadgets, and multi-function interface called Remote Touch in the interior.

The development of the CT 200h had Lexus thinking about their market in Europe and possible rivals like the A3 by Audi and 1-Series by BMW in mind. The design lines of the hybrid are very similar to the ones used by their concept car LF Ch that was uncovered last year. The LF Ch featured Lexus elements and a 5-door body setup.

Lexus explains that the CT 200h will be using a new platform that uses MacPherson strut up front with a new anti-roll bar. The rear makes use of a trailing arm and a double wishbone setup.

The hybrid drivetrain consists of an electric motor coupled with a 1.8L gasoline powerplant. You have four options of drive mode. The NORMAL and the ECO modes are focused on comfort and efficiency. SPORT is logically pro performance while the EV mode lets you drive the car in pure electricity for 1.2 miles cruising through 28 mph.

The dashboard is split into two. One portion features an LCD that displays information about the system while the lower part is called the Operation Zone. The lower zone has all the lever controls and the remote touch controller. You also have about 24.7 cu ft when you fold the rear seats.

Automotive Engineer magazine commissioned the design team of Lotus to come up with a concept that may live up to the EV expectations of being a city-centric vehicle.

The magazine team wanted to sea what the future city car can look like being an all purpose, functional, and efficient electric vehicle. The demand is changing to smaller engine vehicles which can help consumers save money through better fuel efficiency.

Automotive Engineer challenged the Lotus Design team to improve on the design of the Toyota iQ and Smart ForTwo. The two teams had a brainstorming session to know about some technical aspects and basically have a brief of the idea.

It was agreed that the car should be able to take 2 people with luggage or at max 4 people. The requirements set are not really for the off road kind of ride but more of an average European drive. The EV will be designed to run on a cruising speed of 40mph and a top speed of about 65mph.

The design concept is milder than the electric vehicles rolling off the garage of Tesla which can boost to 200 miles per hour or more. Coincidentally, these EVs were designed.

The concept EV by Lotus and Automotive Engineer may end up needing only a 50hp electric motor running with a 10kWh battery. The design of the body will call for bonded aluminum paneling which can be used modularly which can give way to a size closer to the Smart ForTwo and the Toyota iQ.

The outcome of the collaboration is just a product of two-weeks of work which is a normal early phase of concept car work.
